to my bride, on our wedding day…

This is cross-posted from bobthesquirrel.com…

I wish we were writing our own vows. Because we’re not, I thought I would put out to the world a few, off the top of my head thoughts and feelings that may have made it into the wedding ceremony…

It’s not often that a man can say he will be marrying the woman of his dreams. In a few short hours, that man will be me. When I first met Lez, I knew immediately that we’d be friends forever. She was easy to talk to, had a great smile, wonderful laugh and was generally a happy person. Through all my difficult times, she was there. Just a set of ears to listen…even though I didn’t say much.

I never thought I deserved to be happy. I never thought someone like her would ever love someone like me. We’re complete and total opposites. She’s outgoing, I’m totally shy (really!). We don’t like the same music, same tv shows, same movies…and that is exactly why we work. Whatever she lacks, I have. Whatever I lack, she has. On paper, we’d never be compatible. In life, we are inseparable.

When I proposed to her, I said, “You’re everything I ever wanted and a few things I didn’t know I wanted. Even when you’re a nightmare, you’re still the woman of my dreams.” If I’m dreaming, I never want to wake up.

And to Lauren, then best kid ever… Thank you for making me want to be a good example, positive role model and dependable father… something that I never really had. I consider it a privilege to have a front seat in watching you grow into a beautiful, intelligent successful woman. Thank you kiddo.

I deserve this. I deserve to be happy. Lez, I only hope that I can do for you what you’ve already done for me.

I love you.

NOW LET’S GET MARRIED!!!!!
